After three years of sharp decline, the Italian tractor market is returning to growth. The 2025 final figures – compiled by FederUnacoma on the basis of data provided by the Ministry of Transport – show an increase of 13.7%, with 17,573 units registered. This result offsets the negative performance recorded in 2024, when the market reached its historic low with just 15,450 units. Sales trends in recent years – the manufacturers’ federation explains – have been characterized by a steady decline, with the sole exception of the positive peak recorded in 2021 (24,387 units), the year when production and commercial activities resumed after the pandemic-related shutdown.
An analysis of sales throughout 2025 shows a gradual improvement. In the first half of the year, the market trend was still negative compared with the previous year, whereas in the second half – and especially in the last quarter – the sector recorded a strong recovery, allowing it to close the year on a positive note. Even more remarkable was the increase in sales of transporters, which ended the year with a 45.7% rise and a total of 771 units registered. The performance of telehandlers was also positive, closing with an 18.2% increase for a total of 1,216 units. The trailer market also grew, although at a more moderate pace, reaching 7,812 units with an increase of just over 4%. The only category still showing negative figures is that of combine harvesters, which – after the sharp declines recorded in spring and summer – managed to limit losses in the final months of the year, closing with a 12% decrease corresponding to 234 units registered.
“Over the past few years, our sector has been affected by economic uncertainty, rising list prices caused by increasing production costs, and the reduced investment capacity of agricultural companies, which have long been experiencing declining profitability,” commented FederUnacoma President Mariateresa Maschio. “However, important support has come from government incentives, such as the Innovation Fund managed by ISMEA; the INAIL ISI call for machinery with high safety standards; tax credits for Industry 4.0 and incentives for Industry 5.0, as well as rural development programmes co-financed by the European Union and regional authorities, which represent a multiannual instrument and therefore a constant reference point in the innovation process of agricultural enterprises.” “The refinancing of incentives for 2026 announced by Minister could prove decisive in supporting market recovery Francesco Lollobrigida in mid-December,” added FederUnacoma Director General Simona Rapastella. “In November we will have the major exhibitionEIMA International,” Simona Rapastella concluded, “which represents an extraordinary opportunity to monitor the market and interpret demand for new technologies.”
